The 3 best websites for motorcycle adventure travel
The net is a great resource for researching motorcycle travel adventures as well as for wasting a bit of time during your lunch break or “boring” working hours. The website discussed below are really great, they get your travel juices flowing, some have amazing photographs, most of them are filled with biker banter and humor and all three of them without a doubt are the best sources of information for anything at all related to motorcycle travel. If you need help figuring out a route in some far away country, diagnosing a mysterious fault in your machine, wanting to hook up with other riders and more - you can all do it here.
Advrider.com
Probably the biggest motorcycle forum on the net. Founded by “Baldy”, this site has hundreds if not thousands of users online at any given time and contains the best collection of motorcycle related photography I’ve found so far. The famous “frontpage gallery” is hosted at Smugmug and all of the frontpage material is worthy of being published in National Geographic. To top it off, they’re all great shots of people on gorgeous bikes doing silly / stupid things with fantastic backdrops - no boring arty farty snaps here. Just to stress this again - check out the gallery, you’ll be blown away by the hundreds of amazing photos on there. Advrider.com has an amazing community where every one ralllies round to support each other. Beware the wrath that will be cast up on you if you take out your anger on one of the senior members. At the time of writing, there were 2766 people online, over 99,000 subscribers, more than 350,000 threads and close to 9 MILLION individual posts. Talk about a big community!
UKGser.com
Like the name says is a UK based website for BMW GS riders. It’s got the same funny vibe as Advrider.com but with more of british flavour to it. What sets it apart from Advrider.com is an active for sale / wanted forum branch and another one for accomodation, where riders can post recommendations (or not) of hotels, hostels and campsites they’ve stayed at. This forum has lots of info about motorcycling events, in the UK, Europe of farther afield.
The HUBB (Horizons Unlimited)
Was founded by Grant and Susan Johnson and has somewhat of a less active community than the two aforementioned sites, but the travel information is usually very up to date and hard to find on other sites. Almost every post there is relevant, which can not be said for the two previous sites that include a lot of less useful “fluff” posts. Some serious veteran round-the-world riders frequent this site with top information. HU is soon releasing a DVD about motorcycle travel and they organise travel meetings all over the world.

These sites are quality resources for motorcycle travel and more. Soon I’ll suggest a few more lesser know sites that should also be checked out.
